Lakewood Hosts Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Ceremonies

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, which is observed in October, raises awareness of this problem.

A million pregnancies in the US each year result in miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.

Every year during this month, Lakewood Health System holds a ceremony to honor and console the families who have suffered these losses.

On October 2 at 6:30 p.m., a ceremony will be held on the bottom level of Lakewood's Main Campus in Staples, Minnesota.

A singing performance, a period of reflection, and a sermon from Lakewood chaplain Pastor Paul Johnson are all included in this nondenominational event.

The ritual also includes the lighting of luminaries and a unique water ceremony at the fountain in the Serenity Sanctuary.

It provides a special opportunity for those who have lost a pregnancy or an infant to meet together.

The intention is to offer comfort, healing, and remembrance to individuals who have been affected by these traumatic events.

The purpose of the ceremony is to increase public awareness of the emotional toll that pregnancy and baby death take on families.

The event hosted by Lakewood Health System recognizes the value of remembering and commemorating these losses in a caring and encouraging environment.
